You think I’m dodging your points, but the reality is you don’t understand the distinction between internal critique and just asserting your own unproven presuppositions. You think pointing out that the text of the Bible has different names for God, or that ancient people depicted Him differently, is some kind of "gotcha." It’s not. It’s a basic Sunday-school level observation that classical theology solved centuries ago.

Let’s address your specific claims about God being "amoral," a "placeholder," and "changing."

First, you claim "God is a placeholder term... a title... not an entity... not a name."

In Orthodox theology, we actually agree with part of that, but not for the reasons you think. God is not an entity or a "thing" among other things in the universe. He is not a giant Zeus sitting on a cloud. He is beyond essence (Hyperousios). He is the source of all being itself. The word "God" (Theos) is indeed a title—it comes from roots meaning "to run" or "to see," referring to His energetic operations in creation. But when God reveals His personal name to Moses in the burning bush, He says "I AM WHO I AM" (Yahweh). That is not a placeholder. It is the assertion of absolute, self-existent, personal reality. You are confusing the linguistic evolution of words across human languages with the metaphysical reality those words point to. Of course the spelling and pronunciation changed from Hebrew to Greek to English—that’s how human language works. That doesn't mean the underlying reality changed.

Second, you say "God is amoral" and that He changes in the Bible.

You are confusing morality with moralism. Morality for a human being means conforming to an external standard. God does not conform to an external standard of "goodness" because God is the standard. Goodness is not a rule book that exists outside of God that He has to obey. Goodness is the reflection of God’s own eternal, unchanging character. When you look at the Old Testament and see God commanding things that shock your modern, Western, 21st-century secular sensibilities, you are judging the Creator of the universe by a highly specific, historically recent moral framework that your own worldview cannot even ground.

Third, the accusation of "AI responses" and "Jordan Peterson rhetoric."

You call it "gaslighting" and "rhetoric" because when someone forces you to look at the foundations of your own arguments, it makes you uncomfortable. Jordan Peterson talks about archetypes and psychological utility; I am talking about metaphysics and epistemology. There is a massive difference. You claim you pointed out "literal flaws," but all you did was point out that the Bible uses symbols, layers, and historical context. You view that as a flaw because you have a rigid, fundamentalist expectation of how a divine book should look, and when the Bible doesn't fit your personal criteria, you scream "obfuscation!"

You want to "agree to disagree" because when pushed to explain why your logic is valid, why your subjective morality is the correct one, or how random accidental matter created universal laws of logic, you can't answer. You have to presuppose a rational, orderly universe to even type your critique.

So no, it’s not AI, and it’s not Peterson. It’s historic, rigorous presuppositional analysis. If you want to walk away and "enjoy your take," that’s fine. But don't pretend you've dismantled an argument when you haven't even engaged with its foundation.

Peace. 😇
