Beautiful story brother. I haven’t started RCIA so I have yet to experience the glory of the sacrament but i can’t wait.

Welcome to the faith sister! I’m happy to hear you joined. If you have any questions, reach out. what was your situation before coming to the church?

Grew up in a mixed family denomination wise (dad’s presbyterian, mom is nondenominational) and grew up PCA but calvinism never sat right with me. i always assumed Transubstantiation was the truth because of course i was a kid and it just made more sense for john 6 to be literal. Fast forward a few years, i ended up losing my best friend and the daughter we had together and felt super alone. tried to learn more about calvinism but it felt so empty so i checked out orthodoxy, that one seemed like too much mental gymnastics. i looked into the early church and found out that it was Catholic and i was like “hell yeah”. I absolutely cannot wait to start RCIA this year.

What a journey, I’m very sorry for your loss sister. I can’t imagine the pain you must deal with. It’s my biggest fear in life. I hope as time goes on, you can cherish your sweet memories and the pain heals a bit. Give your suffering to the lord, it’s one thing we accept in the faith, that we must suffer, though yours is worse than most. May the lord lead you to something great. as for your journey, it’s great to hear that you found the church fathers to be Catholic, even after going to orthodoxy. I love our orthodox separated family, but I hope we can heal the divide one day. If we can, than the Protestants will be crushed. May the lord be with you sister.

I’m so happy to hear you made it brother. The feeling is wonderful is it not? To actually be accountable to your sins and have to confess them, it can be hard but it’s great to do. We know that feeling of being whole again. Have you done your first communion and confirmation in the past when you were a young lad ? I had to tell my priest it’s been so long since I’ve done a confession that I’m really not sure where to start or anything, and he walked me through it thankfully. I’m glad you rectified your mistakes about communion and such, and am glad to hear that you are back brother. I’d suggest going to the RCIA/OCIA program your church will have in the fall and you’ll learn more and be able to ask questions as well. You’ll meet some other adults with similar stories I’d imagine too. It’s great when we can have a community.
