My only job since graduating college was being an automation engineer at a start up company, and I actually really enjoyed doing that. I got a lot of first hand learning about how to run a company and launch products and services and was an active role in all aspects of the company functioning on top of being an engineer. At some point, while I enjoyed doing the job, the ideas started seeping into my head that I could 100% start my own company. I could do what I pretty much currently was doing except instead of just a salary I would also reap the benefits of the companies success. Since leaving and starting my own ventures I would say that I also enjoy being an entrepreneur, however I targeted areas and needs that seemed promising rather than my my dream job. My area of expertise is in automated manufacturing, I would install robotics into machine shops that fabricated parts. This has a lot to do with my current ventures (I can get into those another time). I would say my dream job is to make my own vineyard and automate as much of it as possible. Then I could just sell my wine and make sure all of my machines are working. (My family has made homemade wine for generations but they never have sold it, they kept it all to themselves! I would love to get the chance to combine my hobby with my work). I definitely believe I will do it one day!

I also have began looking into some other avenues like creating my own products and books like I mentioned in another post, I have a provisional patent too now that is unrelated to the automation endeavor.

Long story short, I knew the entire process inside and out of designing and implementing new capitol projects and figured that I really did not need the company to help me fulfil customer needs. So I just went and started my own design and integration service. A good analogy is an electrician who works for a big electrician company just decides to go off and start their own electrician business and find their own customers, but do pretty much the same actual job.
