Often! I literally talk to my chickens. We started with 5 adult hens that were gifted to us. 8 months later we purchased unvaxxed chicks from Hoover's Hatchery. All were hens. Then we decided to purchase more late last year and 2 ended up being roosters. Needless to say, adding more to the flock presented challenges when it came time to roost in the coop. I've had to scold a few and calm them down due to fighting. The roosters also thought they could try to attack me when they entered puberty so I had to push down on their back and hold them down on the ground for about 30 seconds to show them I was alpha. It took a few days, but now they're my sweet boys. Also the roosting situation has gotten better. We now have a dozen baby chicks that stay in the coop with their mommas. I do have to stay in the coop to make sure everyone settles peacefully, because a few of the older babies want to go way to the top and tend to get pecked up by some of the older hens. All in all, I absolutely love every stinking one of our chickens.
