Have you ever watched the documentary "The Corporation" or heard about the Phoebus Cartel? My point is that the marketplace is ruled very differently than what most consumers imagine. Not long ago, the US government deliberately phased out incandescent light bulbs and is now trying to ban or restrict home gas appliances. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dpjypnxnS4U https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9IMjamIX9Jk

I'm far MORE familiar with the conspiracy than... anyone who ever brings it up. You really need to check into it from a skeptical mindset. Just look at the reference you provided. It fell apart. And no manufacturer ever found a reason to capture market share with longer lasting bulbs. It's really just physics and reminds me of one of my absolute favorite lines from one my absolute favorite movies. "The light that burns twice as bright burns half as long." The cartel depended on the existence of patents to withhold from non-members. Patents died. Cartel died. No one ever produced long life bulbs. Not until the technology to do so came along. And then no one produced short life bulbs. Because the technology was available to their competitors to make long life bulbs. So they couldn't make short life bulbs. I don't know if I've seen either of the videos you linked, and it's late and I might not get to them, but for what it's worth, I do intend to. I have both of them opened in tabs, so there's at least a reasonable chance I will. Don't feel as though I'm trying to belittle you here. I believe your arguments are in good faith and that they're reasonable and deserving of a reasonable response and also that they should be considered seriously regardless of how the facts play out in the long run. I don't know everything or any approximation of everything. Far from it. But, I know quite a bit about this. Which is generally the declaration of someone who knows very little about something. So, bear with me as I examine your arguments. Perhaps I'll see it your way in the end.

I got distracted with some dumb stuff here and in real life:) But I’ll get back to this as soon as I can. Marketplace, economics, and gov regulations/interventions have always interested me, so I don’t mind sharing my thoughts and observations on it. I don't take offense so no worries there
