Two waters. Two very different origins. --- **Watermelon Water** Watermelon water begins as ordinary groundwater pulled up through roots and stored inside a fruit all summer. Before distillation, the juice is red, sweet and full -- color, sugars, minerals, lycopene, everything the vine put into it. The photo above is pre-distillation. The photo below shows what the pot kept when the water was gone. What comes out the other end is clear. Odorless. Lighter than tap. The water itself, separated from everything the watermelon added to it. Water that spent a season becoming fruit. --- **Mount Washington Cloud Water** In June, 2025, rime ice was collected near the summit of Mount Washington, at the top of the Cog Railway line. Rime forms when supercooled cloud droplets hit a cold surface and freeze on contact. It builds in layers on whatever is exposed -- cables, railings, steel hardware -- and it is made entirely of cloud. Not snowfall. Not rain. Cloud, intercepted mid-air and locked into ice. After collection, the rime was melted and distilled. What came out was clear. Water that spent part of its life as a cloud over the highest peak in the Northeast. --- One came through a watermelon vine in summer. One froze onto the summit in June. Both were distilled down to just the water.
