Parent Post: Designing a transitional space for boys

Totally irrelevant. My advice is free and possibly worth the price. Your singular goal is to make your boys into men. Who don't need you. At all. Period. Every expenditure on your part to increase their comfort and pleasure is working against that goal and endeavoring to create life long dependency on you. Here's what they need to know: You're dying. Not today, not soon probably, but certainly inevitably. When that day comes they need to be MEN who will honor their mother properly while managing their families properly. It's the hardest thing for a parent to do. And it's the most necessary. If you don't have a Man in their lives, then get one. It's not really optional. You're a fine woman, perhaps a great one. They're not girls. They need a Man. Someone who can look them in the face and call them liars, lazy, inadequate, to force them to be more than they are, what they should be. You don't have to be married to that man. You do have to let him rough them up and make them like it. You have to let the wisdom of reality manifest itself to them with the bumps and bruises attendant with that reality. Again. Free advice. Possibly worth it. 12 kids. None of them living at home. All of them "making it". There's at least some possibility I know what I'm talking about. And, by the way, I wasn't always the Man they needed. Sometimes it was someone else.
