Sober Over sharing

2 years, 8 months, 15 days Clean...

My father was an alcoholic. I haven’t touched alcohol in my life.

You are wise. Growing up, my dad stopped by the time I was 5 and my mom rarely ever drank because they both had alcoholic fathers. I realized way too late that they were doing their best to protect me. To paraphrase McKenna, it’s the “dominator culture”, fueled by alcohol, sugar, and red meat that leads to all the violence and disparity in the world 😊

You can't go wrong with honesty, it could have been a positive impact in that persons life based in a truth about yours. Anyway, I've made so many mistakes sober I don't even worry about it anymore. The only wrong way to do it is one that ends up drinking again. It isn't that stopping getting messed up ends all the problems (it does end aLot of them), but that you no longer get messed up to deal with them. I was aLot less socially awkward intoxicated, so saying dumb shit and regretting it sober comes naturally. Lol!! It is probably "drunk bias" making me think I was less socially awkward anyway. I was drunk, how would I have known. I guess what I am saying is that sobriety leads to noticing things about yourself you wouldn't have before. For me aLot of them are just annoying, and some are downright traumatic, but now addressing them seems like the only option, where a few years ago I wouldn't have been strong enuf. It is a weird journey that just keeps getting better because I can see and fix more things.

I have seen what alcohol is capable of and I don’t want any of it 👍
