Good point about having to cooperate with others. I know that is a tough one for most. I like my privacy and find it difficult to let others into my sphere. We just have to be super aware of who we associate with. One person can only do so much. Good luck on that land clearing!
Agreed. Besides work I don't socialize. That was somewhat important to me 20 years ago but I got shit to do now.😅 The biggest fuck up was that enough wasn't enough for people. Once people moved to cities and small communities died it spelled the end of any sort of modest independence. A small community could produce food, shelter, everything but the luxury items. Now family farms are gone. People now can't make toast without watching a tik tok. You have craftsmen but now artisans are forced to make a living trying to hustle and sell on platforms like etsy. I'm a leatherworker and I'd say I produce things that will endure. People without skills will say "you should sell this, you should do this" these people can fuck off. If you do good work people come to trust you and that trust builds relationships. Seriously I think the Amish model is the only one that makes any sense in this country.
The fuckin Amish know.. they really are a community that is worth emulating. 🙏
The Amish lifestyle prioritizes faith, community, and tradition but comes with significant drawbacks, including strict rules limiting personal freedom, gender inequality, lack of higher education and career choices, rejection of modern medicine and technology, genetic health risks, harsh consequences for leaving, lack of political participation, hidden abuse issues, and rigid religious enforcement. These factors make it difficult for those who value autonomy, education, and modern conveniences to thrive within the Amish way of life.
They aren't perfect.. they suffer from many of the same human flaws as modern society... but they know what community is and how to maintain one without the modern bullshit...
