The other day...

Nah. You’re not the only one. I love road trips. I live in TX and like to go to NM as much as I can. There’s a lot of little towns, like the one I grew up in, on the way. Even where I live, there’s no commotion, natural sounds of people living their lives. It’s like the sound of children having fun would be a burden. It’s pretty silent everywhere. Pretty eerily still. I honestly can’t remember much of the local bustle pre-COVID. But since, people are guarded and stay indoors all the time. They don’t go out much. Here, there’s only one outdoor venue and that is a big deal on the weekends. Overall, a lot of towns are decimated on the outside. There’s a state park a few hours away and other than holidays, no one visits. When I was in college, even, a long time ago, we had a state park within a short distance. The most beautiful forest. Waterfalls. Hiking trails for miles. Lakes that my close friends and I would camp next to the shore to watch the sun set and rise—alone. We’d go there every week and be the only ones.

It's really strange. *During* covid I saw more people out and about than I have the last two years, but especially this last year. Im assuming its due to economic reasons and that no one has extra money to go outside. Thats my occam's razor.  Its fucking creepy though. I pass by fields and the god damned tractors are being driven by nobody via GPS and drones the size of small cars are flying over the fields and spraying the crops. If it werent for the odd car here and there I'd swear I was the last of the Mohican's. [image]
