Grammar, Dialectic, Rhetoric. Modern American public education is the intellectual equivalent of smallpox blankets. We have to teach ourselves and our kids how to think, because nobody else will. Come to p/Trivium to: Share resources for classical education Discuss logical fallacies and cognitive biases, how to defeat them and how to exploit them. Post your own hot takes and half-assed opinions, make mistakes in a low-stakes environment, so when it matters you won't make the same mistakes.

I would just reiterate what we touched on; and this time, maybe not take me out of context, or fill in assumptions in the arteas where I did not specify. It starts with not identifying with your thoughts. You're having them, they don't stop - but they are not you. I am told ( and I do not know, because I haven't achieved it yet ) - But I am told, and have read, that once you can hold every thought captive and observe it without judging yourself for it or thinking that it is part of you, that eventually the false nature melts away and you are renewed in your mind. I can share further with you, if you would like to go deeper. If the wound is still fresh or you feel some kind of way about me, I'll leave you alone. Sincerely, I think you're a brilliant person. You have good ideas and a lot of common sense, and I see that you struggle with virtue. If you wish, I'll try to answer any quyestions further. This time, please - don't take me out of context, and judge me by my fruits.
Useful for evaluating self-talk. [image]
even the public brain shrinking network can make people think every now and again
If I had to pick that I am most susceptible to would be the Endowment Effect. Why pay $150 for that beautiful sweater at the boutique when for $300 and 300 hours I can knit it myself! 😂😂😂 As far as the one I encounter most here.......WOW! Can I go with top 3 or 5?????? Okay the Biases is what I seem to observe the most here. It's been kinda interesting though, since my husband comes from a different country and completely different background and life experience -- I have gone to him and said okay explain this point of view to me please, or how can this be someone's ONLY point of view.
PBS used to actually produce good educational content. Old school Sesame Street and MRN stand up really well today. Elmo was when PBS jumped the shark IMHO.
